Hi everyone, the next PlayStation 3 (PS3) system software update is out now. Firmware update 3.41 will add recommendations for games and videos on PlayStation Store. When you’re browsing through the details of a particular title, you’ll see a new “You May Like” section on the right-hand side. This section lists additional items based on the purchases of other PlayStation Network members who have purchased the item you’re currently looking at.

You can then click on this section to zoom in on the list and scroll the recommended titles.
We’ve just heard directly from HTC regarding that hotly anticipated upgrade to Android 2.2: it’s happening this weekend for lucky Euroland owners of the Desire. Provided your Sense-laden 3.7-incher is not carrier-locked, you should be receiving your serving of Froyo by the end of the week, together with a new 720p video mode and iTunes sync for your music. HTC is also throwing in its App Share widget that it first introduced with the Wildfire, along with its smart Caller ID feature. Very nice, though it’s quite a shame that operator-specific versions of the update are still stuck in testing and are expected “in several weeks’ time.” Ah well, guess that’ll teach us to buy our gear unlocked.
Panasonic announced the details of a series of handheld video cameras with the capability to record 3D footage in HD, which they will begin selling in Japan on August 20th.
On July 28th, Panasonic detailed the “world’s first 3D consumer camcorder[s],” the HDC-TM750 and HDC-TM650, in a series of press releases. The two products are fully functioning standard HD video cameras aimed at normal consumers in Japan, however consumers will be able to buy an attachable 3D conversion lens, the VW-CLT1.
Samsung Mobile Display (SMD) will develop a AMOLED Display which is unbreakable, valuable, innovative and safe. Samsung want to reach this goal by switching to AMOLED plastic panel on the universal board. Samsung want to produce this kind of panel within two years.
SMD plans to place a TFT (thin film transistor) on the plastic panel and to replace the existing vinyl protection sheet with PI (polyimide) film to avoid residue upon light emission.
The growing demand for thinner and lighter plastic AMOLED panel by the mobile phone market is also an important factor to monitor.
